Turkish Preparatory Program

İstanbul Gelişim University – TYUAM
Turkish Preparatory Program
A new country, a new culture, a new language... We are very happy that you have joined the İstanbul Gelişim University (İGÜ) family.
Our Turkish Preparatory Program is designed to provide you with a strong foundation for your academic life in Turkey. This program, managed by the İstanbul Gelişim University Turkish and Foreign Language Application and Research Center (TYUAM), aims to teach you Turkish not just as a subject but as a language for life.
Who Can Participate?
Foreign students who enrol in a Turkish-medium program at İstanbul Gelişim University start directly with the Turkish Preparatory Program.
📌 Exemption System
All foreign students enrolled in a Turkish-medium program at İstanbul Gelişim University can be exempt from the Turkish Preparatory Program after they personally deliver the following documents to our office in F block for the necessary checks:
  • A Turkish proficiency certificate of at least B2 level from a TÖMER, Language Center, or similar unit of a university affiliated with YÖK, obtained within the last 2 years.
  • A graduation diploma from a high school affiliated with the Ministry of National Education (MEB) in Turkey.
  • An associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree diploma from a university that provides Turkish-medium education in Turkey.
Students who do not meet the above exemption requirements are eligible for exemption through the İGÜ-TYS (İstanbul Gelişim University Turkish Proficiency Exam). Students who pass this exam (at least 75) can directly start their departments.
📝 About the İGÜ-TYS
